The Experts for All Your Pool Needs

Concrete Bases, Gas & Venting

There are a number of considerations and factors involved when installing a pool heater. The heater has to be placed on level ground and on a concrete base that has to be specially made for it. For gas heaters, a gas line must be hooked up to it. The heater has to also be vented properly as part of the installation.

Water Hook Up

After the base and gas line are in place and hooked up, the next step in the installation process is to hook up the water supply line. And with that, you will have on-demand heated water for your pool!

Our Process

01

For pool heater installations, we will first visit the site to determine the best place for the heater to be installed. This includes seeing the size of the pool, checking the ground to make sure it’s level, checking for gas and water lines and ensuring there is enough clearance so that the unit is properly ventilated.

02

After the site visit, we will then provide a detailed quote for the unit and the gas line (if needed) as well as the parts and labour for the job. The quote is itemized to ensure full transparency. We will go over the quote with you and answer any questions that you may have.

03

Our team of technicians will first come out to construct the base for the heater and then install the heater itself. We may also need to do trenching to install a new gas line for the heater. Depending on the needs of the installation, it can take one day or several days.

04

All of our services come with a lifetime guarantee because we are that confident in our work. If there is an issue with an installation or repair, we will fix it immediately and free of charge. With our lifetime service work guarantee, you can rest assured that your appliances receive quality service every time.

FAQs

  • How do you determine what size pool heater you need?

The size of the pool heater required will depend on the size and shape of your pool. For example, a rectangular pool that is 14 X 28 feet or less can utilize a 80,000 BTU unit. Other suggestions include 100 to 200 BTU heaters for 1,000 to 10,000-gallon pools that are up to 300 square feet. For pools up to 1200 square feet, you’re looking at heaters that may be up to 400 BTU. Heat pumps are typically 50,000 BTUs per 10,000 gallons of water.

Most effective is to book a free no-obligation estimate with our team of experts. We can work with you to understand the intended installation or current application and make recommendations as to the unit that will best serve your needs.

  • How long does it take to install a pool heater?

It can take one day or several days to install a pool heater, depending on the requirements of the job. For example, if the ground is not level, an area may need to be dug up and flattened before a concrete base is installed for the pool heater. The concrete base then needs to be constructed.

If there is no underground gas line to supply the heater, a new one will need to be installed, which will require trenching. The water supply then needs to be correctly hooked up to the heater.

This installation is a step-wise procedure and installation times will vary depending on the area it is being installed in and the type or size of the water heater among other considerations.

  • What temperature should a pool be kept at?

Pool temperatures are set based on personal preference. However, as a reference, competitive and recreational swimming pools often have their water at 78°F based on recommendations from swimming coaches and swimming organizations.

Temperatures can be increased to up to 80°F for young children and older adults. They can go higher depending on the use, such as for hydrotherapy. You may also want to change the temperature of your pool based on the season, making it warmer during cooler months and cooler in the summer.

Ultimately, we recommend starting at the 78°F guideline, using your pool for at least a few weeks and adjusting the temperature according to your individual needs and preferences.

  • How often should maintenance be performed for pool heaters?

Pool heaters and accompanying heat pumps can last anywhere between five to ten years. Pool heaters should have maintenance performed for them at least once a year, and twice a year is even better to improve function and longevity.

You can also periodically check your pool heater for any dirt or debris that may be clogging up the heater. These can be removed with a brush or a vacuum.

While you can do this on your own and take care of some of the dirt, full maintenance performed by a professional is recommended for a thorough cleaning and servicing. A professional technician will not only clean the unit but will also perform an inspection of its parts and mechanicals. This can help identify any problems which can be addressed early before the damage grows and becomes more costly to repair.
